2022 Heat Transfer Diffusion Spectrophotometry

Junior Transport & Kinetics Lab Series

Five transport and kinetics experiments. Measured heat conduction in brass and aluminum rods against Fourier's law under varied length and material. Resolved diffusion constants as a function of mixing speed, species, and concentration.

Determined reaction order and rate constant for peroxydisulfide-iodide decomposition by spectrophotometry and Beer's law. Assessed ion-exchange deionization through column conductivity. Tuned a PID controller by the Ziegler-Nichols method.
